Well I haven't uploaded my photos from last weekend on Long Island yet, so I'll share one from last time. This photo was taken at the Merrilon Avenue station, one station west of Mineola, where I usually go. The road is not Merrilon Avenue, it is Nassau Boulevard, which meets Merrilon Avenue just behind the camera. Anyway, here is the photo:
This is an eastbound train of M7s, just leaving the station, which is just out of the photo to the left. The train is heading towards either Huntington or Ronkonkoma, I'm not sure which. The two lines split at Hicksville, which ironically is anything but a "hicksville." Hicksville is a few stations east of here. Both lines continue past Huntington and Ronkonkoma, they go to Port Jefferson and Greenport, respectively, but those portions of the lines are not electrified. Since the M7s are electric, they can't go past where the third rail ends. Port Jefferson sees pretty regular service, but Greenport only sees two or three trains a day.
