Anyways, enough about that. I don't have any photos of this trip yet, so I will have to fall back on my July trip for a photo. Here is this week's photo:
This is the famous street running at Jack London Square in Oakland, California. The track closest to the camera is not used, and actually ends at both ends of the street. The middle track is used for freight only, and does not have a platform at the station. The furthest track, with the Amtrak train on it, is the passenger track. At the end of the street, the track splits and goes into the Jack London Square station, which is the end of the line for a lot of these trains. The original California Zephyr once ran here, but now it ends at Emeryville. I rode the train here to get to San Francisco during my July trip. I took the ferry across the bay. The ferry terminal is a few blocks up from the train station, so I walked along this street and got this photo as a train went by.

Just think, your Pops actually stayed at the hotel that's behind the train! I remember hearing the rumble of the trains going by when we would talk on the telephone.
